Kate Aoki, AIA, NOMA, NCARB

Kate Aoki, AIA, NOMA, NCARB, is an architect and exhibition designer with a BFA in Textile Design from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Master of Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington where she is currently teaching. She blends her love for fine art and spatial design, working for over a decade on projects that serve community needs. As a designer, Kate creates engaging, immersive spaces that connect visitors with art and local culture.

Active in the design community, Kate was the 2023 AIA Dallas Chapter President and she volunteers her time on other boards and committees including the City of Dallas’ Urban Design Peer Review Panel. She frequently contributes to design juries, speaks on craft and design, and has published articles on these topics.

Emily Wiskera

Since 2011, Emily has specialized in museum education with a focus on accessibility. As Director of Education & Accessibility, she develops activities and resources like labels, self-guides, sensory stations, and participatory experiences that foster connections between visitors and the content on view.

Previously, Emily was the Senior Manager of Access Programs at the Dallas Museum of Art, where she developed programs for visitors with dementia, autism, Parkinson’s, and other disabilities. She has written extensively on autism programming and trauma-aware museum practices. Emily is dedicated to creating inclusive, engaging experiences that inspire visitors to reflect, share, and connect.

Ru Bristow

With a BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design and a background in Production Design, Ru specializes in creating immersive, impactful experiences. From working on sets and props for Theater 3 in Dallas to building worlds as a Walt Disney Imagineer, Ru brings expertise in designing memorable environments. This experience translates to the museum world, including exhibition design for Walt Disney World, The Dallas Museum of Art, and The Crow Museum of Asian Art at UTD.

Ru has helped start and lead in multiple small businesses, humanitarian nonprofits, and volunteer organizations. She is dedicated to collaborating with others to create spaces that truly serve communities and all people within them. Ru's skills in art, fabrication, project management, and community building shine in collaborative projects that engage and inspire.
